How Can You Qualify For The Certified Financial Planner Exam?
The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certification is the designation awarded to those professionals who were able to complete the formal CFP course program and successfully pass the Certified Financial Planner Certification Exam.

The Certified Financial Planner Exam is an assessment test that will gauge your learning in all aspect of financial services. The said exam is designed by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards that focuses on over a hundred financial planning and financial services topics such as investment planning, retirement planning, income tax planning, insurance planning, estate planning and many more. This exam will require you to undergo a serious review and training program for you to gain the knowledge and understanding that you will need in order to successfully pass the certification exam.
The Certified Financial Planner Exam is consists of 285 questions and it can be taken in a total of 10 hours. You will be given 4 hours on the first day then two 3-hour sessions on the second day. There will be one four-hour session on Friday and a two three-hour sessions on Saturday. The total number of questions that is related to case studies usually varies from one exam to another. But approximately 20% of the exam is made up of case study questions. The criterion for the passing rate would be based according to the set level of required competency rather than basing it against the scores of other exam takers on that day.
To take the Certified Financial Planner Certification Exam there are requirements set by the CFP Board that you must comply with. You have to earn a Bachelor’s degree or higher from any form of discipline as long as it is from an accredited college or university. Aside from that you also have to complete the CFP course program wherein you have to take special course topics such as Fundamentals of Financial Planning, Estate Planning, Employee Benefits Planning, Insurance Planning, Income Tax Planning, Investment Planning, Retirement Planning, Case Study in Financial Planning and Capstone course in Financial Planning.
Another requirement that you must comply with is the 3 years full time working experience as a financial planner, assistant financial planner or any career related in financial services. Once you have completed the educational and work qualifications you must then submit for a background check and lastly, you must solely adhere to the Code of Ethics set by the CFP Boards. After completing all the requirements you can now apply and take the CFP exam.
